I had the pleasure of discovering hibiscus powder harvested in Malaysia. This vibrant, crimson powder has a tart and tangy flavor profile with hints of cranberry and raspberry, and I couldn't wait to experiment with it in my dishes.
Hibiscus has a long history of use in traditional medicine and culinary practices in various cultures around the world. In Egypt, hibiscus tea is a popular beverage and is believed to have a wide range of health benefits. In West Africa, hibiscus is used to make a refreshing drink called "bissap," while in Mexico, hibiscus flowers are used to make a traditional drink called "agua de Jamaica."
